USB to CAN bus converters from different manufacturers are not compatible with each other, so each software must include support for a specific converter. Our USB2CAN Triple converter uses our proprietary binary protocol optimized for maximum efficiency and transfer speed when using standard firmware. If needed, interested parties can find out the implementation of our protocol, for example from the source code on Github.
The only exception for some converters is the use of the SLCAN / LAWICEL protocol. This is a text-based, less efficient protocol, but supported on Linux and many Windows applications.
To extend the usability of our converter, we have created alternative firmware for the USB2CAN Triple converter that supports the SLCAN protocol. The first 2 CAN ports are supported for now. Support for the third port with CAN FD will be added soon.
If you want to test the firmware, download the latest version of the PP2CAN software. The firmware is included in the installation and the firmware change itself is a matter of 2 minutes. It should also be remembered that the converter cannot be used with the PP2CAN software with this firmware. However, you can always revert to the original firmware.
