Our company has been manufacturing the USB2CAN converter for many years. In recent years, however, we have supplemented the family of converters with several other versions, which we call generation 2. The converters now have USB integrated in the MCU and also offer some new features. However, we continue to manufacture the original converter, as it has become part of many applications of our customers. All converters are supported in PP2CAN software and X2CAN API. Adding a new generation of any of the converters to your application is very easy using the X2CAN API. If you want to purchase any of the USB2CAN converters, we provide here an overview of the features of individual converters.
USB2CAN
- The original converter that uses the FTDI chip for USB communication
- Supports classic CAN (CAN 2.0 A/B)
- Manufactured in low speed ISO11898-3 (formerly ISO 11519) and high speed (11898-2) variants *
- Low speed is used for speeds up to 125k and has different voltage levels than the most widespread version of CAN, i.e., high speed
USB2CAN Triple
- Simultaneous work with three high-speed CAN buses
- 2x classic CAN bus and 1x CAN FD
- Marker input with optocoupler
- High-resolution timestamp
- Precise periodic message generation, pre-prepared checksum variants
- Gateway mode
- Fault injector mode for testing CAN bus behavior when errors occur
USB2CAN Combo
- Simultaneous work with three CAN buses
- 1x CAN FD, which naturally also functions in classic high-speed CAN mode
- 1x classic CAN of low speed type
- 1x classic CAN of single wire type
- Marker input with optocoupler
- High-resolution timestamp
- Precise periodic message generation, pre-prepared checksum variants
- Gateway mode
USB2CAN Single
- Replacement for the original USB2CAN, which contains several new functions
- Classic high-speed CAN bus
- Marker input with optocoupler
- High-resolution timestamp
- Precise periodic message generation, pre-prepared checksum variants
USB2LIN
- Classic high-speed CAN bus
- 2x LIN bus in slave, master, and scan modes
- Integrated DC/DC converter 5V/12V for powering LIN devices
- Marker input with optocoupler
- High-resolution timestamp
- Gateway mode between CAN bus and LIN buses
Timestamp - resolution 25µS
Marker - digital input 3-24V, which can be used, for example, for inserting marks into logs; the input can be connected, for example, to a digital output of a sensor/detector or a button, and by pressing it, mark an event that you will then look for in the CAN record.
Gateway - allows creating a gateway between CAN buses and filtering forwarded data or a gateway between a LIN bus and a CAN bus. Then it is possible to send data from CAN to LIN devices or vice versa from LIN devices to the CAN bus.
CAN FD - a new version of CAN; the message allows increasing the transmission speed in the data part of the transmission, and it is also possible to transfer up to 64 data bytes. At the same time, however, it is also possible to use classic frames. The CAN FD port of Triple and Combo converters can thus also be used for working with a classic CAN bus.
